Anyone heard a rendition of a Jasrangi Jugalbandi? It is a mind-altering experience. Both singers, I realised while listening, have to be absolutely immovable from their own individual focus, and yet flexible enough to intertwine when needed....2 different ragas, plus one person's Ma swar is the other person's Sa....Go figure that one out! Don't miss it, music lovers, if you get to listen to it anywhere. I heard Ashwini Bhide and Sanjeev Abhyankar. They sang lalit and puriya dhanashree; and then abhogi and kalawati. And as Sanjeev Abhyankar explained, there is a lot of intellect and mathematics involved, but mostly there is heart and soul involved in choosing which 2 ragas and pitches to be joined in this way.
It was Kojagiri Poornima night, and though I missed the masala milk session, this was a celestial experience in itself.

It is absolutely amazing!
I have the recording of Sanjeev Abhyankar with Tripti Mukherji singing Puriya Dhanashree and Shuddh Basant.
The drut bandish has been going round and round in my head-
maee ree shyama shyam shyam ratat
shyama shyam bhaee
apney sakhin son yun poochhat
shyama kahaan gayee

braj beejan mein dhundat dolat
bolat radhey radhey rahi bihar
soch kar sakhi sakal maun saadhey

The abhogi and kalawati Jasrangi is also awesome. I would love to hear this live. (I love Ashwini Bhide - she must have been, as always, amazing).

I actually played this after years after seeing your message on FB!
Your enthusiasm was highly infectious:)
