As usual, two new dogs found me. One in November, in the freezing cold, all of a month or so old, materialized literally on my doorstep, braving the wrath of Older Dog. Was promptly adopted, as there was a slot free, with Senior Older Dog having passed on some months ago. Named him Jugnu (which means fire-fly in Hindi/Urdu). A month later, a creamy white creature, all of 2 months old, stuck to me on my walk. I firmly avoided eye contact (that really does you in)...and even vaguely shooed him. But he walked so firmly with me, that it was clear he had a clearer idea of destiny's game-plan than I did. I made the sweet mistake of looking at his eyes. They were the cutest jet black buttons. (All my dogs have come to me in this pre-planned manner - meaning they and their Maker plan, and I fall in line - first one came by plane, the other one off a rubbish heap, the third one (current eldest) literally jumped into my car via the window, and now these two. This one was named nothing for a while, because we sort of fooled ourselves that we would fatten him up and give him to someone. Looking in their eyes and naming them - sure way of being hooked. So this one is Bertie (as in Wooster, dont ask why...later I thought of Masoom and Rumi, but by this time Bertie was answering to his name). Meanwhile Eldest, Yoyo (came pre-named, couldnt do anything about that name), hates them deeply. Thawed a bit towards Jugnu, but has taken a Supari out on Bertie, is the whisper.
Well the 2 eat, sleep, do bodily stuff, play...all very hard and in large quantities.
Other thing is, Bertie chews just about anything. Chappals pencils check books etc are usual, but unsual stuff too...some of which i cant ID once he's through with it. No one can figure what part of what it was....So its possible that essential architectural elements of the house are being eaten, and one day he will pull out the one thing that is holding it all up, and I cant promise that I can blog that event.
Anyway now they are sleek, gorgeous.
